2005 Performance Results of Headline and Headline SBR

The soybean industry has been abuzz with talk of Asian Soybean Rust (ASR) and its potential for wreaking havoc on soybean crops. Although 2005 infestation levels in the U.S. were limited to the Southern region, many growers saw first hand how the fungus can devastate yields.

Thankfully, there is a simple way to fight ASR: research shows that the right tools for fighting this yield-devastating disease include HeadlineŽ and HeadlineŽ SBR.

In 2005 field trials conducted by BASF:

  • Preventative fungicide applications provided the highest yields.
  • Headline applied preventatively provided excellent rust control and yield protection.
  • Headline SBR provided excellent curative and preventative rust control and yield protection.

Analyze the results for yourself and see how a treatment plan that includes Headline can help you protect your investment in soybeans.

2005 Trial in Slocumb, Alabama

Trial: Headline and Headline SBR vs. Folicur®
1st application: July 13
2nd application: August 13th
Soybeans: Group 4.4 Soybeans
Planted: June 2, 2006
Harvested: September 14, 2006

Results: Headline & Headline SBR provided better control and protected yields.

2005 Trial in Chula, Georgia

Trial: Fungicide Product Comparisons
1st application: July 18
2nd application: August 1
Soybeans: Group 7.2 Soybeans
Planted: May 23, 2006
Harvested: Sept. 21

Results:

  • Headline provided preventative rust control.
  • Headline SBR provided both residual and curative rust control.
  • Highest yields achieved with Headline and Headline SBR.

NOTE: Headline SBR is approved only for control of Asian soybean rust. Do not use an adjuvant in combination with Headline SBR if soybeans are growing under high stress conditions (i.e., hot, dry).
